Dirty Bomb is a team-based free-to-play first person shooter developed by Splash Damage and published by Nexon.
Run-and-gun action
Instead of reworking the FPS genre, Dirty Bomb goes back to run-and-gun gameplay. You play in 5 vs 5 or 8 vs 8 matches in two game modes. One game mode is called Stopwatch and requires one team to complete different objectives with a timer. The other is Objective where one team has to complete a task while the other team tries to stop them.
Characters are called Mercs and are unlocked through character cards. These cards also have different loadouts so you can't customize your character personally. You can purchase new cards through in-game credit or using real money.
Each Merc also has a secondary attack depending on the class like medics can revive or give health.
Dirty Bomb wants players to be in each other's faces fighting as close as possible.
Limited by modes
Dirty Bomb is fun, but lacking in the variety of game modes. The game only has two right now and while they are fun, they can get repetitive. The game will be updated in the future to have more modes and Mercs.
The gameplay is solid with the smaller teams and maps allowing for frenetic fire fights, but it will take a lot of teamwork to succeed. It's a good start with a lot of potential.
Try it now, keep an eye out
Dirty Bomb will get better as more people play it and more modes are added. Since it's free-to-play, there's no harm in trying it out. Console players jumping to Dirty Bomb will have to get used to the keyboard and mouse controls.
